Changchun High-tech Development Zone, is among the first batch of national high-tech industrial development zones approved by the state council in 1991. Since 2009, it has planned and implemented a new round of development strategy. After two years large-scale development and construction, it has completed the target of reshaping its foundations. It successfully held the 12th China Changchun (High-tech Development Zone) International Sculpture Symposium from July to September 2011, and put the sculptures from the symposium in the Northeastern Changchun Urban Ecological Wetland Park for display. It also specially established the Northeast Changchun International Sculpture Park .
Northeastern Changchun Urban Ecological Wetland Park is the first international and sustainable wetland park in Northeast China of the highest significance for ecological recovery. It is an “ Ecological Green Valley ” where humans and nature are in perfect harmony. The 9.7 square kilometer park was designed with the idea of “green humanism”—“our park, natural park”. The park will give priority of the concept of ecological environment and harmonious co-existence, creating a full living space, and open multi-elemental cultural platform.
Since the sculpture park does not have any large-scale sculpture and is lacking in overall composition. The development zone plans to install 5 groups of large-scale sculptures on water and by the lakeside to improve the urban cultural taste, increase the international reputation and influence, and promote the cultural communication. We sincerely welcome friends all over the world to submit sculpture proposals.
1. Theme: “Innovation•Leap•Dream”& “Green Ecological Civilization”
2. Quantity and Position: one sculpture on the water and four sculptures by the lakeside. (Please see the position chart for the details)
3. Material and Dimension: Material: stainless steel, stone or other water-tolerant material .
Dimension: theme sculpture: 20m-30m; other sculptures: 15m -25m
4. Submitting requirement:
The submitted sculptures should show the style and features of the era, develop the spirit of the times, integrate with the overall environment, highlight the cultural, historical and regional features of the development zone, and emphasize the cultural vitality. See further sculpture network site.
5. The Scope: Sculptors and design institutions all over the world.
6. The reward: If any proposal is accepted, the sculptor will be paid about 47000 US dollars.
