Call for artists for the 4th International Wood Sculpture Symposium, Mirecourt, France
Dominique Renaud, AIESM Agent in France, is organizing the 4th International Wood Sculpture Symposium 2012 in the town of Mirecourt, France. Eleven artists will be selected to participate. All completed works will remain in exhibition (permanent loan artist) in Mirecourt. The symposium will take place from the 20th of July to the 29th of July 2012.
Topic : the 4 elements; The material: Oak trunk 4meters high on approximately 0. 80 m diameter is provided free of charge by the organization. The completed sculpture will be of: maximum 4 m 50 or minimum 3 m 50 (standing) and will not exceeded 2 m wide.
The Organization offers the sum of 700 Euro for each participating sculptor. Travel expenses will be fully refunded if travel will be by train or aircraft (the most direct and economical way) after presentation of the receipt. By car, see the refund at the website.
Housing and meals are provided by the Organization.
An artistic exhibition will be eventually organized. Invited sculptors can participate. The Organization will retain the 10 % on sold sculptures.
The local jury will select 11 candidates; 4 French sculptors and 7 sculptors from other countries.
The selection of projects will take place in March 2012 and will be final.
